Designed by Goler Community Development Corporation, TechCareers is an initiative focused on linking unemployed and underemployed residents of Forsyth and surrounding counties with the technical education, career readiness training and community resources needed to secure a rewarding position in the Information & Technology industry.
TechCareers provides the opportunity for traditionally underserved populations to take advantage of extremely valuable industry knowledge at no cost to program participants.
Who Needs a Career in IT?
Technology is already a part of our everyday lives, but it’s also becoming a part of every job; regardless of the industry. Many positions now require a fundamental understanding of technology and there are thousands of job openings for professionals who are trained to design, build, monitor, repair and protect these vital systems.

Program Offerings
Comptia A+ Training and Certification
Participants will have the opportunity to receive training for the CompTIA A+ Certification, which will prepare you for a wide range of IT roles. The new A+ certification will cover essential skills in hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting, with an increased focus on security, networking, and software troubleshooting. Prior experience in Information Technology is not required, but applicants must have a strong desire to work toward industry-recognized certifications.
Solar training and certification
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to solar energy, focusing on sustainable design, installation, and maintenance of solar power systems. Participants will gain hands-on experience with solar technology, learn about energy efficiency, and explore best practices for environmentally responsible solar solutions. Ideal for aspiring solar professionals, technicians, and sustainability enthusiasts, this training equips learners with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the growing renewable energy sector.
INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT
Our program is individualized to suit the needs of traditionally underserved populations. We work with participants to develop an Individualized Goal Plan and offer support every step of the way.
CAREER PLACEMENT & SEARCH ASSISTANCE
We work with local employers to learn more about the industry landscape and provide our participants with usable job seeking information. When possible, we match participants with our employer partners’ job openings.
Program Eligibility
To be considered for the techcareers program:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum high school diploma or GED. Applicants should reside in Forsyth or surrounding counties and be unemployed or underemployed. All candidates are encouraged to enroll in NC Works to receive additional resources available to job seekers.
